Friday night at Kenny's!

Friday night - no way to explain it - you had to be there - there to see it - experience it.

OFF
THE
HOOK.

Where do I begin? Do I start with Rockin' Robin rockin' out the Go-Gos? Colin and I singing a rousing rendition of "Total Eclipse of the Heart"? Or, the guy who sat on the stage and sang the Marilyn Manson version of "Sweet Dreams"? Hard to say - there was so much goin' on that night, including Joe Mitch on the drums! The joint was jumpin'!!

Bran-DOHN was our fearless host - as Ryan was still -- somewhere - the D.R. maybe? Hmmmm.

Anyway, Brandon's friend Gary had EVERYONE up and dancing to "Mustang Sally"! Susie-Q sang some Amy Winehouse, while her good friend had everyone "Dancing in the Streets"! Reggie got up and sang; Randy-Andy belted out a tune, and Brandon had everyone "Jump in the Line"! Seriously, words alone cannot capture the event, that was, Friday night - Crash Course at Kenny's:

Check back for more CCK bloggin', from Sunday. Two shows in one weekend woo hoo!

Fun! Fun! Fun!

Hey everyone - thanks a bunch for making CCK/my b'day so much fun! Props to Rockin' Robin for setting out such a nice 'spread' of balloons and chocolate candy kisses - yum! And also to Corey Lim; Donna & Reggie; and John and Mrs. D. for their thoughtfulness. And to the band for four, count 'em, FOUR verses of "Happy Birthday!" And, I loved reading everyone's well wishes on my card, thanks! In all of the excitement, I didn't take any notes, so am relying on my memory - this, after a full dinner and drinks beforehand, and then more drinks during the evening!

'Bran-DOHN' was guest-hosting - I'm not quite sure where Ryan was, all I heard over the music was "Ryan is 'something something, something something something...' "Dominican Republic" - so, I guess we'll stay tuned for more info. on that! Anyway, there was a band that played before Crash Course went on, and some of the band members and their fans stayed thru the first set. I think some of 'em did get up and sing, but like I said, food, wine, party -- didn't get names/songs. But, what I did almost get was a, um, dance... from, uh, a very, uh, leggy blonde. Simmer down guys, it didn't quite happen like that - Brandon announced her, she got on stage, did a little dance, and then guess who's turn it was?! The only way to follow that act was to try to top it!! JUST KIDDING!

Instead, I belted out one of my faves by Linkin Park!

Moving on, Rockin' Robin belted a rousing "Hit Me With Your Best Shot", & Corey Lim sang "Sweet Child of Mine"!

Christine gave us another "Fever"; Donna sang "Rehab" - Reggie was so proud, and he rocked out too! Though no notes, so don't remember his song... Oops, and the same with Rockstar - I'm sure it was something by Grateful Dead though! John D. sang "Dream On", w/some help w/Rockin' Robin; Marky Mark sang "Oh Boy"; Natalie sang Zombie; while Brandon had everybody "Jump In The Line"! John D. gave a nice compliment, with "...it sure is nice to celebrate your birthday with you -- for a change." Uh, thanks - considering I didn't know you during my last b'day - ha ha, it was quite funny! Anyway, thanks for the 'present' of us getting to sing "Play That Funky Music..."! It was way cool!

And now, for THE big moment of the night - after a wonderful rendition of "Chasing Cars" by someone who's name I neglected to write down, Ted got down on one knee, said some wonderful things to Kristie Lee, and proposed! CCK's first proposal! Congrats to both! I'm sure we'll all volunteer to sing at the ceremony, though I will refrain from 'Sabotage' - unless specifically requested, lol...

In other news - CCK has added a show for this Friday evening, Nov. 28th, 8:00pm - 1:00am, with Bran-DOHN hosting! So, finish up those Yams, wrap up the Stuffing and Cranberry Sauce, and digest that Turkey, 'cause we're gonna rock it out! And, Joe Mitch will be filling in on the drums - rock on! Crash Course Karoke - twice in one weekend! Woo hoo! See you then!

Late late late...night.

Did I mention it was a late...night? Oh my, so late, so very very late...so tired, so very very tired... Where do I start? First, w/another cup of coffee, wait, that's not working - can I get a double shot of espresso? With a side of Advil? It feels like something (or someone) is pounding inside of my head - or, I'm hearing things...wait, I'm hearing something,

"Listen all y'all it's a sabotage..."

a voice...it's getting louder...

"Listen all y'all it's a sabotage...!"

and louder...

"Listen all y'all it's a sabotage...!!"

and now it's screaming:

"LISTEN ALL Y'ALL IT'S A SABOTAGE!!!!!!!!!!"

Oh wait, that was me - Sun. night!! ROCK-'IN OUT!!!! Oh dear, shhhhh, that hurt... Ok, for the next few sentences, we'll be speaking in whispers, ok?

First of all, props to Ron K. and the "Standalones" - they were awesome! I highly recommend seeing them at their next gig, which will hopefully be soon!

The night started off with Rockstar singin' the Grateful Dead; and continued w/Brand-ON/'Captain America' singing "Reflections"; Rockin' Robin singin' one of my favorites, "Killing Me Softly"; Kristine singing "Fever"; Corey Lim belting Melissa Ethridge; Marky Mark singing "Oh Boy"; then he and his lovely wife, 'sweet sweet Cindy' sang "Dream", duet style! And Ron K. 'took' us '...To the River' - "nah na na nah...nah na na na nah".

Ryan had announced that he had a 'Kristen'; a 'Christine'; and a 'Kristina' (moi) - what are the odds? Kristen belted "Black Velvet" and a stunning rendition of "Heartbreaker"; Christine did a personal fave of mine, "White Rabbit"; and I rocked out with a little Linkin Park, "In The End", which, ok, REALLY made me feel like a rock star! (Not to be corn-fused w/Rockstar Richard...). Anyway, Michelle gave us some Carol King; Joe belted Maroon 5; Mary gave us Carol King - wait, did I get that right? Did both Carol and Mary do Carol King? I really have to be able to read my own handwriting. I do know that they were awesome!

Anyway, Davy Monster ventured into Ozzy-land - ("Shar-ON"!) Brand-ON gave Davy Monster props, ("Yay Davy Monster!") at least I think it was Brandon -- with his voice a 'crack-a-lackin' like that, it sounded like someone had let a teenage boy in the house! Hey, I thought they carded at the door! Where's Harris-ON!!!!?

'Showtime Sean' sang "You Are So Beautiful"; Irenka stunned us with George Michael's "Faith"; Rockin' Robin sang "Just Like a Pill"; Rockstar sang a fave of mine, 'A Little Less Conversation'; Brandon sang a rollicking version of "My Way"; and Joe rocked out "Hotel California"!

After the break, Ryan made the announcement that there will be an addition to the Crash Course family - congrats to 'the sexiest drummer in the world' Kristie Lee, & Ted on their engagement! Ryan and Kristie Lee celebrated, by singing their duet - U2's "One".

Just wanted to extend an invitation to all of you to be sure to come out and join next week, as I'll be celebratin' my b'day, which is actually Saturday, but would love to hang w/'all y'all' on Sunday to celebrate! 'Til then...

Your 'blogstress'...
(in Ryan's announcer voice)

'Kris-ti-na La-tour!' ;)

Ron K. does Kenny's...

Hey everyone - our very own Ron K. is doing a gig at Kenny's on Sunday night before CCK, and he's asked me to pass along the info.!

So, if anyone would like to show up early, (or in some cases, earlier than usual)...grab some grub, have some drinks, and hang out, come on out and get an early start!

Kristina ;)

This past Sun., I got to CCK later than my 'usual' time, and was welcomed in the most delightful
way...
ROCKSTAR RICHARD
"Bout time you f..kin' got here!
You're the lastone [out of the 'regulars'] to
arrive. Better not be the first one to leave..."

Like THAT'S ever happened before... But, I did enjoy being greeted by the 'welcoming committe', w/Richard, Colin and Bran-DONE! Thanks guys! Marky Mark held the door open for me as I wheeled in my luggage, and Selene says jokingly,

SELENE
"You're like the Postman..."
ME
"Really? I'm carrying clothes in my bags, not CCK fan mail" (lol)

Quoting part of the Postal Slogan:

SELENE
"Neither rain, nor snow, nor sleet, nor hail..."
And she's right -- in fact, I have a confession to make -- I, am a 'karaoke-holic'.

"There is, a house, in New Orleans..."

Oh wait, huh? What? I'm not at karaoke, and I'm breaking into song... Yes, I'm a 'karaoke-holic', and the first meeting will take place NEXT SUNDAY because (gasp!!) CCK is NOT PLAYING NEXT WEEK!!! How can this happen? CCK plays EVERY week! Ok, breath, in with anger, out with love. It just came as shock, announced right before the band's first break:

RYAN
(in announcer's voice w/CCK playing Pearl Jam in the background)
"Ladies and Gentlemen! Crash Course Karaoke is here EVERY Sunday night...!

ME, MARKY MARK, ROCKIN' ROBIN, JOHN D.
"Woooooooooooooooooo!!!!"

RYAN
"Except..."

(sound of 'record scratch')

What?
RYAN
"...next Sunday!
But, we will be back in two weeks from tonight,
so find a song, buy a drink, we ain't goin' nowhere folks!"

Uh, what?
RYAN
"Can't find a better man..."

KRISTIE LEE (harmonizing)
"Can't find a better man..."

ME
"WHAT?!!!"

MARKY MARK
"Are they serious?"

ROBIN
"Waaaaiit a minute..."

JOHN D. (incredulously)"Huh?!"
(drinks a shot)

RYAN
"Woa oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh...oh oh oh oh oh..."

ME
(coughing, gasping for air)
"Are they serious?!
What am I, I mean, what are WE going to DO next Sunday night?"

The reason for this 'anomaly' is that Kenny's is hosting a music festival, that will also take place on Sunday night, so I -- uh, I mean WE, will have to wait two more weeks for our CCK 'fix...' In the meantime, I guess there are things that I could be doing on a Sun. night -- like watching "Desperate Housewives", not that I ever have before; washing my hair; editing my videos; exercising (ha ha ha ha!); catching up with friends on the phone, although they may think they're talking to an inposter since they haven't spoken to me on a Sunday night in over three years!

Anyway, another rockin' night at Kenny's --with 'Showtime Sean' singin' "Mustang Sally", and "Shout", where EVERYONE rocked with him on that!

Kate & Anne sang "American Girl" and
"Bobby McGee";

props to Ben, who swooned in "Sweet Caroline";

Rockstar Richard dedicated "A Little Less Conversation" to John A.;

Corey Lim rocked out "Magic Man"; Will sang "Folsom Prison Blues"; Marky Mark channeled Elvis in "Hound Dog"; Rockin' Robin sang "Before He Cheats" while Ben & I took the liberty of acting out to...

"...I dug my key into the side of his pretty little souped up
4 wheel drive,
carved my name into his leather seats
I took a Louisville slugger to both headlights,
slashed a hole in all 4 tires...
Maybe next time he'll think before he cheats."

...a follow-up to my "You Outta Know", lol!! Speaking of which, it was quite funny, when, ok, nature was calling, and it was at that same time that Ryan announced "For the first time tonight, we're bringin' up 'Kris-tina La-tour'"! The crowd goes wild, well, pretty wild anyway... I'm thinkin', what? Oh-oh...um, ok, uh, be out in a minute... Talk about an entrance...

Later in the night, Christine 'killed' in her newest song addition, "White Rabbit"; Selene belted out "Total Eclipse of the Heart", Danny Mac sang "500 Miles"; Isaac W. sang some Tom Petty; Kathy channeled Carol King; Natalia ROCKED out "Heartbreaker" - props to Joe 'Chica-chica-chica-relli' for his AWESOME lead guitar! Colin sang "Simple Man"; Bran-DONE gave us "Reflections".

And THEN -- John D. and Corey Lim belted out a duet in "Sweet Child of Mine" - had the WHOLE HOUSE up on their feet -- including Sean & I who again, were 'Dancin' with the Stars'!

Ryan closed down the second set with "My Own Worst Enemy", and referred to the 'incident' after that (someone getting sick) as it looking like they were being THEIR own worst enemy. John A. commented "What is this, Saturday night?!" After that, it was time head out, luggage and all. Tune in next week, where I'll be holding the first-ever 'karaoke-holics' meeting (location TBD - contact my 'booking agent', Brandon for details...dougnuts and coffee will be served.

Kristina ;)

P.S. Keep an eye out for details on a possible 'karaoke lottery/roulette' in December!

Hello all -- for those of you that read last week's blog, about the 'talking wine spot', and didn't know what the heck I meant by it, below is a link to the 'talking stain' Tide commercial, that shows what it was based on:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vgtfC5LBAW4

Anyway, three words to describe this past Sunday night at Crash Course: OFF THE HOOK! Seriously, if you weren't there, and you know who you are, you missed a really great night! For starters, we all arrived early, 8:00pm, hung out, had some drinks, and chatted while listening to Tom from Milwaukee finish up his set. He was so good, I had thought that I had been listening to a recording!

Then Ryan opened the night with Plush, and Rockstar started things off with "Smooth"; Rockin' Robin ROCKED OUT "Black Horse and Cherry Tree" - 'Woo-hoo'! Tony gave us "Wonderwall"; Christine gave us Janis in "Bobby McGee"; Rebecca sang "Brass in Pocket"; Andrew sang "Glory Days" and Brandon rocked "Hard to Handle". I also rocked out an Ozzy song -- 'All Aboard.... Ha ha ha ha ha....!" SO MUCH FUN belting out my inner rock star! Props to Kristie Lee's awesome harmony -
"I'm going off the rails on a Crazy Train"!

So, the buzz is getting louder about us 'regulars' doing each others songs - it's already started with Bran-DONE doing "Casey Jones", a favorite of Rockstar's. And speaking of which, if I'm reading my notes correctly, it looks like Rockstar was supposed to do "Hard to Handle" and Brandon was gonna do "Casey...", looks like SOMEONE owes someone a beer, or a shot... When I heard "Casey Jones", my thought was 'hmmmm... I wonder if I could do that'. I mean, I already tried a Rockstar favorite, "White Wedding" once (key word, once). I think I might want to try "Casey...". Sean & I were 'Dancin' w/the Stars' to Rockin' Robin's "Call Me", before his stunning rendition of "Shout"! Colin was "Easy" ('like Sunday morning'); and Rockstar

channeled Elvis in "A Little Less Conversation"! Kate brought a wonderful ice cream cake (which I apparently inhaled...lol) for Alan's b'day. It was indeed 'yum-deli-icious'!! Andy sang "You May Be Right" as his b'day present to him.

It was Jae's b'day as well as she celebrated with a very sultry "Ain't No Sunshine". John D. rocked the house with a couple of duets - "Don't Stop Believin', w/a very good singer from TX, who's name I didn't appear to write down (sorry...), and "Drift Away" with Colin. Christine rocked out a new song, Aerosmith's "Dream On", while Robin, Colin, Mr. & Mrs. D and I got down and 'rocked it out' at the bar! Megan sang "I Will Survive"; Nichole sang "Criminal"; Bob Scoffield channeled Johnny Cash in "Folsom Prison Blues" from his 'platform'; and Leah brought down the house with Avril Lavine's "I'm With You."

And for the night's biggest highlight - wait for it - wait for it -- Mrs. D. singing - no - ROCKING -

'Let's do the TIME WARP again"!

EVERYONE was on their feet, while Bob Scoffield hopped on stage to give us 'directions' on, well, doing the 'Time Warp'!

"It's just a jump to the left
And then a step to the right
With your hands on your hips
You bring your knees in tight
But it's the pelvic thrust
that really drives you insane,
Let's do the Time Warp again!"

John D. was so proud! Congrats all around ensued, capping off another awesome night!

A thanks to the guys who took the iPhone pics - keep 'em coming!

Kristina ;)

Thursday, October 23, 2008

First of all, a big Happy Birthday to Alan! Though, now it's a 'Happy Belated B'day', since it's officially Thursday! Anyway, onto Sunday's 'goings ons'!

A big thanks to CCK for adding "Total Eclipse of the Heart". I had been asking for that song, AND made sure to be the first to perform it - complete with 'non-industrial sized' fan - thanks Zach! And props to Alan for his 'Turnarounds'...

Alan: TURN AROUND
Me: Every now and then I get a litt bit lonely and you're never coming round

Alan: TURN AROUND

Me: Every now and then I get a little bit tired of listening to the sound of my tears

Alan: TURN AROUND

Me: Every now and then I get a little bit nervous that the best of all the years have gone by

Alan: TURN AROUND

Me: Every now and then I get a little bit terrified and then I see the look in your eyes...

Wow! I'm certain I heard applause a number of time throughout the song -- oh wait, it's quite possible they could have thought it was um, over... hmmm. Well, nontheless, there WAS applause!!

Before being called up for my turn, Colin, Rockin' Robin & I were hangin' out at the bar, drinkin' -- me, Red Wine; Robin, Jaeger & Coke (a favorite of Selene's); and Colin, some kind of bottled Beer. Ryan announced that the next singer was singing a new song, and sing Colin & I were both singing new songs, we both thought it was our turn to go up on stage. So both of us made a move, like we were going to run up to stage, and wouldn't you know it -- that Red Wine ended up on my (light) pink sweater! Colin was the one who got called to go up - he effortlessly sang "Easy" by the Commodores, while I pointlessly doused my sweater with Club Soda, trying to stifle a 'third party singer' - the wine spot - a la the 'talking Tide stain commercial:

Alan: TURN AROUND
Me: Every now and then I get a little bit lonely and you're never coming round

(Simultaneously)
Wine spot: (drunken) "Aallaaallllalal...balsfuasslldfls...yallirhhajefrjil...

Pause...

Alan:
(slowly turns to his right - looks at me -thinks 'what IS that noise?)
TURN AROUND

Me: Every now and then I get a little bit tired of listening to the sound of my tears

(Simutaneously)
Wine spot: (drunken) Alllallaal...balsfulaslldflsl...yallirhhajedfjil...

Kristie Lee:
Hey! Whoever that is, no coming up on stage unless you're invited!

Me: ...I don't know what to do and I'm always in the dark, we're living in a powder keg and giving off sparks!!!!!!!!

(Simultaneously)
Wine spot: ALLALALALLALALL..HLULJARULSRLLSSAAAA!!!

Me: I really need you tonight
Forever's gonna start tonight
Forever's gonna start tonight...

Whew. I needed that shot of Jack Daniels - thanks Ben.

Other highlights included Rockstar singin' "Under the Bridge"; and Christine gave a whopping "Fever"; Rockin' Robin entertained us with "Umbrella"; Ben belted the Romantics' "What I like About You", a first I think for CCK; and Sean belted out "Creep" like nobody's business!

Marky Mark celebrated the spirit of Halloween with "Monster Mash", and Davy, uh, Monster... sang 'Truckin'. Brandon, who owes me a 'karaoke roulette' song sang one of the newer songs, 'Reflections'. Our bet was that he could guess my next song - I gave four, count 'em, FOUR clues as to what it was, and after the second one, HE suggested that if he didn't get it by the fourth try, I could pick out his next song, by closing my eyes, and pointing to a song in the book, hence the name 'karaoke roulette' -- scary! The clue that I had given him was that it was a John D. song, and after the second guess, I gave another clue, that it was 'circa 1980's. He still didn't guess it, (it was Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'") and it was time, with Marky Mark's help, to pick something out for Brandon to sing. Not suprising, he didn't approve of any of the songs we picked- which defeats the purpose of the game!

But we ('the regulars') have been throwing out the idea of 'karaoke roulette' for quite some time, more as just a joke. I mean, I can't really see myself singing AC/DC any more than Brandon can see himself singing Sade. It would be an interesting concept though, especially if there was some sort of incentive! Hmmmm.... But as the band always says, 'it's called Crash Course!

Continuing on, some newer folks joined in on Sunday -- Jae rocked out to "Signed, Sealed, Delivered"; Irenka sang "Don't Know Why"; Ricky sang "Dream On"; Andy sang "Jack and Diane"; and Mac sang "One".

And go Natalie, for rockin' out "Pour Some Sugar on Me" - you couldn't help but NOT get upand dance! Everyone was on their feet - John A. and the Rockstar crew; Brandon's crew; we were ALL jamming!

Alright folks, 'til next week -- meanwhile, I think I'll switch to White Wine. Rock on!

Kristina :)

"I'm bringin' blogging back..."

Hey folks - I'm finally back 'online' (somewhat), after my unfortunate incident (apt. robbery) two weeks ago. So, I have two Sundays to recap -- let's see if I can read my own handwriting, through my own wine/gin induced haze...:

Sun. Oct. 5th:

Brandon captivated us with a Reggae version of John Lennon's "Imagine"; Rockstar killed w/"White Wedding", as did a new CCK'er Mike; Natalie gave her all to"Heartbreaker"; Marky Mark w/"Oh Boy"; DJ gave us "Something to Talk About"; Corey Lim rocked "Sweet Child of Mine"; Rosario gave us "Sweet Dreams"; Christine sang "Beautiful"; Ricky belted "Welcome to the Jungle"; Colin crooned some Macy Gray; Vincent couldn't get any "Satisfaction"; Kathy sang "Close To You"; and I'm afraid I did the 'ol 'tear-the-pontytail-holder-out-of-the-hair' move, while beling out "In The End".

By the end of the night, or rather, beginning of Monday morning, around 2:00am, EVERYONE was up, dancing and headbanging to Ryan's "Enter Sandman"! Another rockin' night!

Sunday, Oct. 12th:

Sean entranced with "Creep" by Radiohead; Rockin' Robin rocked out with "Criminal"; and Christine asked to "Give Me One Reason". When Mick sang my favorite, "House of the Rising Sun", it seemed to have prompted a mass make-out session at the bar! Seriously, there were like three couples all connected at the lips - what DOES Andrea put in those drinks?!

Corey Lim wowed us with "Don't Stop Believin'"; John D. and I rocked out "Mustang Sally"; and Kathy rocked out a new song "Reflections" - you go girl! ! And Marky Mark did let me come on board and harmonize to "Dream" - thanks man! And Selene belted out "Heartbreaker"; Christine wowed as always w/"I Love Rock & Roll"; and Rockstar, as always, was a rock star!

Our old friend Gilad from the 'Underscore' days rocked "Message in a Bottle", while Lisa belted "I'm The Only One". And speaking of friends from the past, Ron K. made an appearance, and sang "Come Together", AND, gave me an awesome back rub - thanks Ron K., I needed that!

Mandy & Leah channeled Nancy Sinatra in "Boots..."; Dylan rocked "Interstate Love Song" - Corey Lim was so proud -- and Joe sang "Surrender"! Colin & Sean impressed with "Drift Away", while each of them equally impressed with "I Try"; and "Don't You Forget About Me", respectively.

Props to Charles & Liza for showin' up - long time no see! One of these days very soon, Charles and I will do a duet, and the only hint I'll give is that it's never been done at CCK before!! Can't wait!

Kristina ;)

P.S.
If anyone wants me to include pics, feel free to email them to me -- thanks!

"Weekend at Kenny's"

That's right folks - not just one night of CCK, but TWO! It all started w/Ryan's birthday party on Sat. night, well, actually Sun. morning, as it was just after midnight. Ryan & CCK, a.k.a. Magic Brownies, opened up the set with Linkin Park's "In the End". Props to Joe Mitch for filling in on the drums - he rocks!

Ryan continued to rock out the night with George Michael's "Faith", a favorite of mine, and ended with the rock version of Frank Sinatra's "My Way", after first 'clearing' it w/Bran-DONE. A fun time was had by all, including his Mom; g.f.; neighbors from the 'hood; and several friends from the Outback. Ryan demonstrated his drumming skills with Queen's "We Will Rock You", and Joe Mitch singin'. Ryan also demonstrated his sharing skills as he passed around his bottle of Grey Goose. By the time it got around to me, pretty much everyone had taken a swig. When I voiced my 'concern' over this, he was like, 'seriously?', and was kind enough to 'cleanse' the bottle, so I could drink. Thanks man.

After the Magic Brownies set, CCK opened up the floor, w/Brandon hosting. Joe Holland rocked out "Sympathy for the Devil" like no one's business! I followed w/a little "Heartbreaker", and Marky Mark rocked out as well! Then later in the night/morning, a very special song request from the 'Birthday boy' to me -- and here's a clue:

"IIIIIIIIII CAN'T STAND IT!
I KNOW YOU PLANNED IT
I'M GONNA SET IT STRAIGHT THIS WATERGATE
I CAN'T STAND ROCKIN' WHEN I'M IN HERE
'CAUSE YOUR CRYSTAL BALL AIN'T SO CRYSTAL CLEAR..."

Oh yes. 'Sabatoge'. Beastie Boys. Word. Goin' out by special request. I warned everyone, including "Mrs. Ryan's Mom" to put the earplugs in if they had 'em, 'cause it was gonna get LOUD!!!

A mere 17 hrs. later, we were all back again, including drummer Joe Mitch, who filled in again for Kristie Lee - we hope you're feelin' better girl! Sunday was more of a 'chill' night - w/us regulars hangin' out on the futons -- yes, futons - new additions to the joint. John D. brought the house down w/Journey's "Don't Stop Believing"; Corey Lim, there w/her 'crew', fellow CCK'ers Dylan and her friend Rebecca, gave an ode to Ron K. in Cyndi Lauper's "Time After Time"; Marky Mark sang the Kinks' "You Really Got Me"; Maria ("Mrs. D") channeled Joni Mitchell in "Big Yellow Taxi" in the first of her TWO songs! Christine KILLED w/"Give Me One Reason"; Rockstar never disappoints w/bringing us the Grateful Dead. Bran-DONE and his crew were a constant source of entertainment - twirling me around a la "Dancing with the Stars" one minute, to doing calisthenics in the bar area the next!

Colin crooned while Marky Mark and I danced -- props to Colin also pairing up w/John D. in a stunning rendition of "Drift Away"! John D. also harmonized w/Marky Mark in "All I have to do is Dream" - hmm, I'd love to do harmony on that one - maybe John D. & Marky Mark will let me - maybe? Anyway, Ben rocked out to "867-5309", and an ode to James Brown... Sean blew us away w/"You Are So Beautiful" (aw, shucks, oh, just kidding...); and Brandon belted out "Summertime".

Well, I hope to see you all next week - can you believe a very good friend of mine has the gall to plan a dinner party on a SUNDAY NIGHT?! But, what can I say, I'm flattered to be on his 'A list', and it is his b'day celebration. Since it's in B'klyn, my plan is to try to come to CCK later, but, might have to do some finagling, as all of us guests are performers, and, well, we like to perform, even if is just for each other. But I will certainly do my best to show up! If anyone wants to fill me in on the highlights/goings-ons before I get there, or, if (GASP!), I don't make it, feel free to drop me an email afterwards. See you soon!

Kristina ;)

Wednesday, September 24, 2008

Greetings everyone!  This past Sunday night at Kenny's!  Bran-DONE started out the night, hosting the first set!  One of the first singers of the night was, wait for it, another John D.!  What?  How can that be?  Two John D.'s?  The 'original' John D. wasn't there, so, not much to get corn-fused about, but, thought it was pretty funny!

John D. ("II")

The gals of CCK!

Rockin' Robin rocked out Aerosmith's 'Dream On'; Selene sang 'Heartbreaker'; Brandon had EVERYONE dancing to 'Jump in the Line'; Marky Mark started us off with 'Folsom Prison Blues'; Alton, a musician visiting from Texas took the stage  and hung out; and Ryan joined us at the break and took over the hosting duties!
Rockin' Robin and CCK!

Rockstar Richard did some comedy for us during the first break!  A bunch of his 'peeps' were there cheering him on, and drinking lots of 'cheer'!  He let us in on the secret to he & Christine's wedded bliss... if you want to find out, catch his next standup act!

Davy Monster - rockin' it out w/Rockstar, yo!

Corey Lim and Dylan hung out for a while; Bob Scofield stopped by, sang & took some great pics; Mick played a mean harmonica; Billy sang a little Skynard; & Christine sang a little Christina!

John A., flanked by his friends!

Our host Ryan, and 'sometimes host', Bran-DONE!

Tune in next week for some more CCK goings-ons!  Did I mention the new futons?  They're really 'classing' up the joint!  Maybe that's why the new 'rule' is no-more-bringing-pizza-in,-even-though-the-kitchen's-closed.  And the first Pabst isn't 'free', it's 'three'...my bad -- too hard to hear over the (awesome) live music!  'Things that make you go hmm'...
